In January 2024, the Leo Lion Foundation committed £163,046 to support the expansion of PEAS Town View Secondary School in the Busoba region. This investment funded critical infrastructure development, improving student access to quality secondary education, particularly for girls. The improvements were designed to create a safer, more conducive learning environment and support the school’s long-term growth and sustainability.
Bridging the Gap in Education
Town View Secondary School serves one of Uganda's most economically disadvantaged regions, where access to quality education is a persistent challenge. Prior to this initiative, the school struggled with limited infrastructure, restricting enrolment and student retention. The new developments have brought remarkable changes, making education more accessible to students from low-income families.

Key Infrastructure Developments
Girls' Dormitory: The construction of a storied dormitory has provided a secure boarding facility for 120 girls, addressing long travel distances and improving academic focus.
Sanitary Block: New hygiene facilities ensure dignity and comfort for female students, reducing absenteeism linked to inadequate sanitation.
Solar Power Installation: With sustainable electricity, students can now study after dark, enhancing academic performance and safety.
Motorised Borehole: The addition of a borehole provides a consistent water supply, reducing long queues and improving daily school operations.
Job Creation: The project generated employment for local workers, boosting the community's economy and fostering ownership in the school's development.
Impact and Achievements
With renovations now complete, in February, PEAS were delighted to welcome a new cohort of students that will benefit from this improved infrastructure. Enrolment has increased by 48%, with student numbers rising from 220 in 2024 to 325 in 2025, reflecting the community’s growing trust in the institution. The newly constructed dormitory has improved retention rates by providing stability and security, particularly for girls who previously faced long and unsafe commutes. Access to proper sanitation has significantly enhanced student health and overall well-being, while the introduction of solar power and a reliable water supply has made daily school life more efficient and comfortable. Additionally, the school's transformation has fostered greater community engagement, encouraging more families to enrol their children, and further strengthening educational opportunities in the region. Teachers have already reported higher levels of engagement and concentration among students, reinforcing the long-term academic benefits of these upgrades.
Sustainability and Future Plans
The dormitory’s expandable design ensures that Town View Secondary School can continue accommodating more students and boarding fees, which will support the school’s financial sustainability. Looking ahead, PEAS aims to develop a science and ICT lab to further enhance learning opportunities. This project marks a critical milestone in the journey towards accessible and quality education for all students in Uganda and we are proud to have supported it.
